How Farez works

When you choose a pickup and a dropoff, Farez looks up the real driving route between the two points and calculates the distance and expected travel time. Each provider's estimate is then built from that route using their published rate structure — base fare, per-mile rate, per-minute rate, booking fees and, for metered taxis, the meter rate.

Estimates are labelled as estimates everywhere they appear. When Farez has a live quote from a provider's own pricing API, that label goes away and the exact quoted price is shown instead.

Surge and prime-time multipliers, tolls, airport surcharges, wait time, tips, promo codes and the specific vehicle you select are all applied inside the provider's app at the moment you book. Farez cannot see those, so treat our number as a well-informed comparison point rather than a price quote.

Farez never takes payment and never books on your behalf. Choosing a ride opens that provider's app or website with your pickup and dropoff already filled in. Your booking, your payment and your trip are entirely between you and that provider.

Farez is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by or partnered with Uber, Lyft or Curb. Their names and marks belong to them and are used only to identify the services being compared.

Farez currently supports pickups within the United States. Rideshare options appear nationwide; metered taxi options appear only in the metro areas where that network operates. Where a provider does not serve your pickup point, Farez tells you rather than showing a price it cannot stand behind.
